Tenure-Track Faculty Positions KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology)

December 20, 2018 by Bennett Agnew

The Graduate School of Green Transportation (GSGT) at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position each in the area of (1) Transportation Electrification Technology including power electronics, electric machines, battery systems and design, battery electrochemistry, fuel cell, and other electric propulsion system-related studies; and (2) Connected and Intelligent Vehicular Technology including robotics, computer vision, machine learning, AI-based environment perception and recognition, cyber-security, and other relevant areas to intelligent vehicles.

The selected candidate will be expected to teach courses in the field of (1) Transportation Electrification Technology and (2) Connected and Intelligent Vehicular Technology, respectively. The candidate will also be expected to lead graduate students in their cutting edge research and to develop funded research programs that supplement the current department’s competitiveness and create new research thrusts. The capacity to perform inter-disciplinary research, both within (1) Transportation Electrification Technology, or (2) Connected and Intelligent Vehicular Technology, and in collaboration with other organizations, is highly desirable.

The candidate must have an earned Ph.D. degree in engineering at the time of appointment. Female and/or foreign applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for this opening.

KAIST is the most pre-eminent research university in Korea emphasized in science and engineering. KAIST was established in 1971 as the nation’s first graduate school specialized in science and engineering education and research. KAIST has earned global reputation in various R&D areas of science and engineering since then.

Cho Chun Shik GSGT was established in 2010 as a leading institute of next-generation transportation technologies. Research and education programs at GSGT focuses on three research thrust areas; 1) eco-friendly transportation systems, 2) intelligent vehicles, and 3) sustainable transportation. These research topics require multi-displinary knowledge and experience from various engineering fields, and GSGT is seeking strong applicants with this nature in mind.

Applicants must apply for the faculty position at KAIST GSGT. The application package should include an application form cover letter, curriculum vitae, and statements of research and teaching interests. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The recent appointments are anticipated for Sept. 2019. Due date for application is Jan. 31st, 2019, but the application will be accepted until the position is filled.
