Ph.D. and Postdoctoral positions at California Institute of Technology

December 2, 2019 by Bennett Agnew

We seek applications for a Postdoctoral and multiple Ph.D. positions available in experimental quantum information science. The work will be guided by Mohammad Mirhosseini at the Quantum Engineering group (http://qubit.caltech.edu/). The group works on a wide range of topics at the intersection of quantum optics and circuit QED, aiming to develop hybrid quantum networks by realizing room-temperature optical links for superconducting qubits. Caltech offers a great research environment for quantum information with a number of strong theoretical and experimental groups at the IQIM Institute (https://iqim.caltech.edu/).

Interested Ph.D. applicants should have a good basis in electromagnetic theory, optics, and quantum mechanics. Any previous research experience is considered a plus. Applicants should send a cover letter, a CV, and their transcripts by email to mohmir@caltech.edu.

The postdoctoral position is a full-time, flexible term (2+1 years) appointment starting in September 2020 (or mutually agreed date before/after). Position requires a Ph.D. in Physics/Optics/EE or other related fields. Applicants should have a good theoretical knowledge of quantum optics or nonlinear optics. Hands-on experience with table-top optics, cryogenic instruments, or nano-fabrication are considered a plus. All applicants should send a cover letter and their CV to mohmir@caltech.edu.
