This unique 12 week program consists of six weeks of academic research at Princeton working at any quantum-related group (quantum.princeton.edu), followed by six weeks at IBM working in the quantum computing group at Yorktown Heights. Housing and a stipend are offered at both sites. The whole program will be complemented by a summer seminar series with talks across a large range of topics in quantum information and different quantum platforms. This is a great opportunity for students to both perform cutting edge quantum research and get industry experience in a single summer.
Due to the COVID pandemic we were unable to host the 2020 QURIP program as planned. Both IBM and Princeton University are planning primarily for an in-person QURIP program in 2021, but we are prepared to transition to a remote program if necessary. Over the course of 2020 we have learned a lot about how to make our interns from around the world feel better connected with one another and with colleagues across IBM Research, and we plan to apply these lessons to our 2021 program. Many IBM interns continued their work largely as planned, thanks to the IBM Quantum Experience platform, which provides access to our quantum systems via the cloud.
Please forward this opportunity to undergraduates that would be interested. The application deadline is January 15, 2021. Administrative inquiries should be sent to Sandra Lam, sclam@princeton.edu.
